With 11 year olds taking new SATs this week in grammar, punctuation & spelling, the government has released a specimen paper.
The new test is made up of a 45-minute grammar test and a separate 15-minute spelling test of 20 words, including many that are often misspelt. The aim of the new tests are to help raise standards in the area by monitoring whether pupils can punctuate sentences properly, including using common punctuation including colons and apostrophes.
